I’ve been in this space long enough to recognize the industry buzzwords. One that has been looming in this space for a while is ‘Conversion Copy’. We hear about it all the time in the online entrepreneur space but what does it actually mean?
I recently dove into an incredible conversation with one of my Mastermind members and dearest friend Krystle Church discussing all things conversion copy, who it serves and what it actually is.
Krystle Church is a copywriting genius, serving 6 and 7 figure entrepreneurs to create copy that converts. After leaving her full-time role as a teacher and into entrepreneurship, she moved to Singapore and began her journey into her full-time business. She is a ‘live your best life’ advocate which is something she sure does well! Her priority is to take the stress, overwhelm and frustration around crafting and strategizing a client’s copy and taking that off their plate.
When it comes to conversion copy some of the basics that are important to know is copy written on the foundation of research. Instead of just slapping words on your website, we’re looking at research from your ideal client base, surveys etc and using that to pull out key messaging. Building a strategy that can target specific messages that your ICA or reader is going to resonate with.
One thing I absolutely love about Krystle and her serving in this space is her honesty. One additional key point she mentions (which you can hear in the episode) is at the end of creating your copy for conversion she states that at the end it is about analyzing what you created. Seeing what worked, what didn’t, how did the client respond and where can improvement happen? I am such a huge advocate for this because there is always room for improvement, even if you are an expert in your niche.
And even for someone in the beginning stages it simply starts by listening to your audience. You can look at past ICA or client testimonials, conduct a mini survey or questionnaire on social platforms and build out from that. Another great tip Krystle gives us is hopping into community groups based on your niche, look for any common problems that you can possibly play a role in resolving.
What’s unique?
What’s coming up a lot?
What’s the phrasing?
Along with conversion copy something that comes into play are funnels. (I know, another buzz word) Setting up copy for your funnel Krystle advises that taking the time to improve your copy even if it’s DIY so that it doesn’t leave your audience or readers lost on our website. In the episode Krystle shares a story about reviewing the website of a high ticket potential client whose copy was all over the place and how recognizing tweaks can improve the big picture is what it’s all about.
“The thing about copywriting is it has the ability to connect you to people.” Krystle says at one point in the episode. “Looking at each individual part of it and thinking is this connecting with somebody.”
Chatting with Krystle was such a please and I would definitely encourage you to not only listen to the episode but visit her website to learn more about her incredible services. Right now she is offering FREE email templates designed for a kick ass launch!
